Adapt Law-Making and Material Law to Digital Reality
The legal transformation has effects on the legislator that go far beyond an adjustment of the legal framework for the exercise of the profession. Thus, the legislator must set the course for the use of legal tech in the courts and administration, and the legislator must find answers to the socio-political questions that arise therefrom. In addition, the legislator faces even more far-reaching questions that directly affect the design, structure and application of laws.
Computable Law and Granular Law are two keywords that frequently appear in this context. Artificial intelligence, and in particular machine learning and decision automation enabled by these techniques, may profoundly change the design, structure and application of laws. The main objective of this working group is to connect leading experts and to stimulate the discussion on technical and ethical questions regarding future legislation.
